Brief description and main aims
''Obras del Espiritu Santo'' is an institution which takes care of children and adults from very poor areas in San Jose.
Since 2000 the volunteers from ''Obras del Espiritu Santo'' they have been given support, medical treatment and legal assistance to homeless people too.
Main Activities
There is a nursery and a day care centre for children where they provide food and care to more than 50 children. They also give lunch and plan workshops and educative activities to women from difficult areas. They also organise “Night Patrols” to give food to homeless people in San Jose.
Volunteer tasks
The volunteer will be assisting the teachers in the day care centre and will be taking care of the children. Working hours: Monday to Friday: 8am to 3pm
Assisting other activities from the project as the “Night Patrols”(only if the volunteer wants).

Location
''Obras del Espiritu Santo project'' is located in Barrio Cristo Rey, southern side of San Jose city. From San Jose downtown is 15 minutes by bus.
Climate: The dry season is from December to May, and is the time of year when it is almost no rain. During the rest of the year (from May to November) it rains constantly.
There are several internet cafes around San Jose city.

2 meals provided by host family and 1 meal at the work placement.
Additional info
No shorts are allowed in the project then you will need to wear long pants for work every day. Please bring light jacket because San Jose at night can be cooler and chilly. If you come during rainy season (May to November) bring an umbrella.
